Accounting Practice Management Software in 2026: Eleven Tools and the Prices They Publish
Every list price these eleven practice management products published in September 2026, the billing terms attached, and the two that quote only.

Accounting practice management software is bought on three different pricing units, and picking the wrong unit costs more than picking the wrong product. Nine of the eleven products below publish a list price: seven charge per user, one charges per connected client, and one charges a flat fee with a client allowance. The remaining two, CCH Axcess and Thomson Reuters Practice CS, publish no price at all and quote only. Every figure here is the vendor’s own published list price as of September 2026.
The short version: a solo practice can start at $19 a month with Financial Cents or Liscio; a firm wanting one system for workflow, clients, documents and billing is choosing between Karbon at $59 to $89 per user per month and Canopy at $74 to $149; a bookkeeping firm whose work is the monthly close should price Double per client before it prices anything per seat.
What practice management software actually does
It is not the accounting system. The ledger, the bank feeds and the financial statements live in accounting software, and every product on this page sits beside that rather than replacing it. What the practice layer does, judging by what these vendors publish on their own pages, falls into six jobs:
- Work and workflow. Recurring jobs, templates, due dates, assignment, and a view of what is late across the whole client book. Every product here does some version of this, and Jetpack Workflow does only this.
- Client records and a portal. One record per client, with the documents and messages attached, and a place the client logs in to send things securely.
- Documents and signatures. Storage, organization and e-signature, which is what stops a tax practice from running on email attachments.
- Proposals, engagement letters and billing. Scoping the work, getting it signed, and collecting the money. Ignition does this and does not do workflow.
- Time, budget and capacity reporting. Time tracking, budget against actual, and who is over capacity. Several products put this behind their higher tier.
- Close management across clients. Tracking the month-end close for dozens of client ledgers at once, which is a bookkeeping-firm need rather than a tax-firm need. Double is built around it, and Financial Cents and Client Hub sell or include a version of it.
Match the product to the two or three jobs your firm actually loses time on. A tax firm drowning in document collection and a bookkeeping firm drowning in month-end close tracking do not need the same software.
Accounting practice management software at a glance
All prices as of September 2026, taken from each vendor’s own pricing page. “Entry price” is the cheapest published route to one user.
| Product | Best for | Entry list price | Priced by | Free trial |

| Liscio | Secure client communication and document exchange | $19 per user/month, annual | User | Not published |
| Ignition | Proposals, engagement letters and getting paid | $39/month, annual, 20 clients | Flat plus client allowance | 14 days, no card |
| Jetpack Workflow | Workflow and recurring jobs, nothing else | $40 per user/month, annual | User | 14 days |
| Client Hub | QuickBooks and Xero bookkeeping firms | $49 per user/month, annual | User | 14 days, guided |

Financial Cents
Workflow, client portal, CRM, time tracking, invoicing, proposals and engagement letters, sold at the lowest published entry price in this comparison.
| Plan | Annual, per user/month | Monthly, per user/month | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $19 | Not offered | 1 user only |
| Team | $49 | $69 | 5 users on monthly billing |
| Scale | $69 | $89 | 5 users on monthly billing |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Based on firm size |
All plans carry a 12-month agreement and a 14-day free trial with no credit card required. The Month-End Close add-on is $5 per client per month, billed annually. QuickBooks Online integration is available from Solo up; SmartVault, Zapier, the open API and two-way sync with OneDrive and Google Drive are named on the page, and the tax integrations with Drake, UltraTax, ProConnect, ProSeries and CCH Axcess sit on Scale and above.
Skip it if your firm bills monthly and has fewer than five users, because the monthly option carries a five-user minimum on Team and Scale, or if the tax integrations you need are only on Scale and the price gap matters.
Liscio
Secure client communication, document exchange and tax workflow. Its entry tier is a file product rather than a full practice system, which is why the $19 matches Financial Cents on price but not on scope.
| Plan | Price, per user/month, billed annually |
|---|---|
| Intelligent Files | $19 |
| Liscio Platform | $49 |
| Tax Team | $99 |
| Tax Enterprise | Not published |
Intelligent Files covers file intelligence, folder-structure migration, cloud integrations, secure exchange, file history, web and mobile apps and unlimited files under fair use. Liscio Platform adds email integration, client tasks and requests, organizers, eSignature, custom branding and onboarding. Tax Team adds tax integrations, advanced automation and priority support, with annual per-user limits of 100 organizers, 100 tax deliveries and 100 eSignatures. A la carte, organizers and tax return deliveries are $5 each and a firm website is $29 a month.
Monthly billing exists but requires contacting Liscio, and no monthly price is published. Minimum seats and any free trial are not stated on the pricing page.
Skip it if you want workflow and job management as the core of the system. Liscio’s strength is what moves between the firm and the client.
Ignition
Proposals, engagement letters, billing and payment collection. It is not a workflow tool and does not compete with Karbon or Canopy on that ground.
| Plan | Annual, per month | Monthly | Active clients included | Each extra client | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Solo | $39 | $49 | 20 | $7 | 1 |
| Core | $99 | $124 | 50 | $5 | 3 |
| Pro | $229 | $279 | 350 | $3 | 15 |
| Pro+ | $399 | $499 | 600 | $2 | 20 |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Not published | Not published | Not published |
Proposals are unlimited on every plan. E-signatures per proposal run from single on Solo and Core, up to two on Pro and up to ten on Pro+. Additional documents are capped at 500 a year on Pro and unlimited on Pro+. The free trial is 14 days with no credit card, and the trial allows $10,000 in payments with zero fees.
The second price is the one that scales with your revenue rather than your headcount. Payment processing on all plans is 2.5% plus $0.30 for standard cards, 3.6% plus $0.30 for premium cards including AMEX and corporate cards, and 1% plus $0.30 for ACH with a $5.00 maximum. Add-ons are a deals pipeline at $49 a month, online forms at $49 a month, and price insights at $349 to $399 a year billed annually.
A firm collecting $40,000 a month by card would pay roughly $1,000 in standard-card processing at that rate, against $99 a month for the Core subscription. Price the processing, not the plan.
Ignition also publishes the 2025 U.S. Accounting and Tax Pricing Benchmark, the vendor survey of 219 of its own customers cited on our client accounting services page.
Skip it if you need job tracking and staff capacity management, or if you already process payments somewhere with a cheaper rate and do not want a second processor.
Jetpack Workflow
Workflow and recurring-task management, deliberately narrow.
| Plan | Annual, per user/month | Monthly, per user/month |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | $40 | $49 |
| Premium | $50 | $59 |
Starter includes unlimited projects and clients, unlimited templates and customizable automation, team collaboration and change management, plus live chat and email support. Premium adds time tracking, budget against actual reporting for staff and services, and capacity management reporting.
The free trial is 14 days. The page states there are no setup fees and no per-client charges, that the yearly plan saves 18 percent, and that yearly plans carry a 30-day no-risk guarantee; monthly plans are non-refundable and have to be canceled before the renewal date. No minimum seat count is stated.
Skip it if you want a client portal, document management or billing in the same system. The narrowness is the point, and it means a second product.
Client Hub
Practice management with a client portal, plus bookkeeping-specific workflows against QuickBooks and Xero.
| Plan | Annual, per user/month | Monthly, per user/month | Minimum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solopreneur | $49 | Annual only | 1 user, solo firms |
| Practice Manager | $59 | $79 | None stated |
| Practice Manager PLUS | $79 | $99 | None stated |
Every plan includes a 14-day guided free trial, unlimited clients, unlimited storage, AI features, support and training.
One detail on that page is worth reading twice before buying, because it is unusual. Solopreneur includes the QuickBooks integration covering uncategorized transactions, month-end close, financial reports and the 1099 Manager, plus the Xero uncategorized-transactions integration. Practice Manager, the tier above it, excludes those advanced bookkeeping integrations. Practice Manager PLUS restores them along with AI features including Magic Books Review. A two-person firm upgrading from Solopreneur to Practice Manager loses bookkeeping functionality unless it goes to PLUS.
Skip it if your work is tax rather than bookkeeping, since the integrations that justify the price are QuickBooks and Xero specific.
Karbon
Workflow, email triage, collaboration and practice management, built around the idea that the firm’s work lives in its inbox.
| Plan | Annual, per user/month | Monthly, per user/month | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Team | $59 | $79 | Integrated email, collaboration, workflow, to-do lists, time tracking and budget reporting, billing, payments, engagements |
| Business | $89 | $99 | Everything in Team plus automatic client reminders, task automation, industry integrations |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | Dedicated Karbon contact, customization, unlimited usage limits |
Monthly billing is available only for teams of four or more; annual billing has no stated minimum. All plans include email triage, client management, a client portal, document management, billing and payments, integrations and security. The pricing page states no free trial length.
Skip it if your team does not run on email, or if you want the cheapest possible seat: at $59 a year-billed seat, Karbon Team is three times Financial Cents Solo and $10 more than Client Hub Solopreneur.
TaxDome
Client portal, CRM, document management, e-signature, workflow, proposals and payments, priced per seat per year rather than per month. Longer commitments cut the rate.
| Plan | 1-year | 2-year | 3-year | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $800/seat/year | $750 | $700 | 1 seat, solo users only |
| Pro | $1,000/seat/year | $950 | $900 | Unlimited paid seats |
| Business | $1,200/seat/year | $1,150 | $1,100 | Unlimited paid seats |
Extra seat types are priced separately: temporary staff on Pro at $100 per seat per month, and seasonal staff on Business at $500 per seat for a four-month term, auto-renewing at the firm’s renewal date.
Essentials covers unlimited CRM, client portal, mobile app, document storage, e-signatures, workflow automation, secure communication, proposals and payment collection. Pro adds general ledger integrations with 120 connections, IRS transcripts, AI-powered reporting, team collaboration, a 30-day activity feed, custom branding and monthly temporary seats. Business adds Client Care support, bi-annual business reviews, unlimited GL connections, unlimited chat history, a 365-day activity feed, client import assistance, seasonal seats and premium support with a stated six-hour average response.
The pricing page does not mention a free trial. One piece of arithmetic the page does not do for you: TaxDome Business at $1,200 per seat per year works out at $100 per user per month, which is above Karbon Business at $89 on annual billing and below Canopy Premium at $149. That monthly equivalent is our calculation, not TaxDome’s published price.
Skip it if your cash flow cannot absorb annual payment per seat up front, or if you want to try before committing.
Canopy
Practice management with CRM, documents, e-sign, client portal, workflow, invoicing and payments, plus priced add-on modules that carry the tax-resolution work Canopy is known for.
| Plan | Price, per user/month, billed annually |
|---|---|
| Standard | $74 |
| Plus | $109 |
| Premium | $149 |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Add-ons, all on annual billing: Smart Tax Prep Automation at $34 per client credit with volume discounts, Close Automation at $10 per connected client per month with the first five connections included, Tax Resolution at $50 per user per month with volume discounts, and Knowledge Based Authentication at $1.25 per credit.
Canopy states that annual billing saves 20 percent against monthly, but it publishes no monthly list price, so the monthly figure cannot be worked out from the page. A free trial is offered on request via a demo. No minimum seat count and no trial length are stated.
Skip it if you want a firm price before a sales conversation. Between the unpublished monthly rates and four separately priced add-ons, the real annual cost of Canopy depends on which modules you end up needing.
Double, formerly at keeper.app
Month-end close, bookkeeping quality control and client communication for accounting firms, plus a separate offering for internal finance teams. It is the only product here priced per connected client rather than per seat. The address keeper.app now permanently redirects to doublehq.com, and keeper.app/pricing redirects to the Double pricing page.
| Accounting-firm plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Core | $10 per client/month |
| Plus | $25 per client/month |
| Scale | $50 per client/month |
| Enterprise | Custom |
Double states that plans can be mixed and matched per client, that unlimited team members are included at no charge, that billing is based on connected clients at the start of each monthly cycle, and that a subscription requires at least one connected client. Clients you do not connect cost nothing. Named capabilities across the plans include two-way ledger integration, a custom-branded client portal, AI bank feeds, task management, firm-wide reporting, vendor W-9 requests, integrated email, AI reconciliation fixes, receipt management, accruals, allocations, AI journal entries, AI bills and flux analysis.
Add-ons: a Tax Suite included with a $200 per month annual commitment, and emails at $10 per connected team email per month, with one included on Core. The internal finance team product is an annual flat rate quoted by sales, with unlimited users and two-way ERP sync to NetSuite, Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Online and Xero. No trial length and no minimum contract term is published for Core, Plus or Scale.
Skip it if you have many small clients and few staff, because that is precisely the shape the per-client model penalizes. It rewards the opposite: a firm with a lot of people serving a modest number of substantial clients.
CCH Axcess, from Wolters Kluwer
A cloud platform for tax and accounting firms, sold as modules rather than plans. The modules Wolters Kluwer names are Tax, Tax Essentials for small firms, Advisor, Client Collaboration, Data Axcess, Document, Engagement, Knowledge Coach, Knowledge Coach PCR, Intelligence, iQ, Portal, Practice, Validate, Workflow and Workstream. The module that competes with the products above is CCH Axcess Practice, which covers time and billing with reporting.
No list price is published anywhere on the page. The only routes forward are a quote request form and a solutions consultant, so any “typical cost” figure you find quoted elsewhere is somebody’s guess rather than a published price. Treat the budget as unknown until Wolters Kluwer quotes you.
Skip it if you are a small firm that needs to compare prices before talking to sales. Note also that Financial Cents lists CCH Axcess among its tax integrations, so being on CCH for tax does not oblige you to buy CCH for practice management.
Practice CS, from Thomson Reuters
Time, billing and practice management inside the CS Professional Suite. The functions named are time and billing tracking, staff onboarding, client invoicing, service profitability analysis, real-time access to firm, client and staff information, and customizable dashboards. Add-on modules cover Project Management, Staff Management and Client Management. It integrates with UltraTax CS and Accounting CS, with NetClient CS for client portals and an UltraTax CS eSignature module. Deployment is desktop, or hosted through Virtual Office CS or SaaS for CS Professional Suite.
No list price is published; the page sends buyers to sales. As of September 2026 the product page carries no statement of replacement, end of life or discontinuation.
Skip it if you are not already running UltraTax CS or Accounting CS. The integration with the rest of the suite is the argument for it, and without that the case is thin against products that publish their prices.
Two tools you will still see recommended that no longer exist
Pixie and Uku appear on most listicles in this category. Both domains now serve a parked domain-for-sale page rather than a product, checked on September 19, 2026, so there is nothing to evaluate and nothing to buy. If a comparison article you are reading recommends either one, it has not been checked recently, which is worth knowing before you trust its prices.
The arithmetic that decides this, not the feature list
Three pricing units, one firm. Take a plainly hypothetical firm with 6 staff and 40 clients, and apply the published list prices above:
| Product and plan | Calculation | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| Financial Cents Team, annual | 6 users x $49 | $294 |
| Client Hub Practice Manager, annual | 6 users x $59 | $354 |
| Karbon Business, annual | 6 users x $89 | $534 |
| Canopy Premium, annual | 6 users x $149 | $894 |
| TaxDome Business, 1-year | 6 seats x $1,200/year | $600 equivalent |
| Double Core | 40 clients x $10 | $400 |
| Double Scale | 40 clients x $50 | $2,000 |
| Ignition Core | Flat, 50 clients included | $99 plus processing |
Now change the firm and watch the ranking invert. Double the staff to 12 and every per-user line doubles while Double does not move. Double the clients to 80 and Double moves while every per-user line stays where it is. Ignition stays cheapest on subscription in both cases and is not comparable, because it does not do the workflow job the others do, and its processing fees are the real cost.
How to choose
- Workflow is the only broken thing. Jetpack Workflow at $40 a seat, or Financial Cents Solo at $19 if you are alone.
- Document collection and client chasing is the broken thing. Liscio from $19, or TaxDome if you want the whole tax practice in one system and can pay annually per seat.
- The firm runs on email and work gets lost in inboxes. Karbon, which is built around exactly that problem, at $59 or $89 a seat on annual billing.
- You need tax resolution work alongside practice management. Canopy, with the Tax Resolution module at $50 per user per month on top of the plan.
- Your product is the monthly close for bookkeeping clients. Price Double per client first, then compare it against Financial Cents plus the $5 per client Month-End Close add-on and against Client Hub’s QuickBooks close tools.
- Proposals and collection are the bottleneck. Ignition, priced on processing fees rather than on the subscription.
- You already run UltraTax CS or CCH tax software. Get a quote for Practice CS or CCH Axcess Practice and compare it against two published-price products before you assume the suite is cheaper.
Two cautions for any of them. Check the minimum seats before you budget: Financial Cents requires five users for monthly billing on Team and Scale, Karbon requires four for monthly billing, and TaxDome Essentials is solo only. And check the commitment: Financial Cents plans carry a 12-month agreement, TaxDome is billed by the year per seat, and Canopy’s headline prices are all annual.
What none of this replaces
None of these products keeps your clients’ books. That is the general ledger, and it is a separate purchase: accounting software covers the options by business type and size, and client accounting services covers what firms charge for the work that runs on top of it. If you are setting up a practice rather than re-tooling one, how to start a bookkeeping business is the earlier question, and the software decision can wait until there is a client to put in it.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the cheapest accounting practice management software?
Among products publishing a list price in September 2026, Financial Cents Solo and Liscio Intelligent Files both start at $19 per user per month on annual billing, though they buy different things: Financial Cents Solo is a full workflow and client system for one user, while Liscio’s entry tier is file management and secure exchange. Ignition Solo is $39 a month flat with 20 active clients included, and Double starts at $10 per connected client per month with unlimited team members.
Is Karbon or Canopy better?
They are priced $15 to $60 a seat apart and aim at different firms. Karbon Team at $59 and Business at $89 per user per month on annual billing is built around email and workflow. Canopy runs $74 to $149 per user per month on annual billing and sells tax resolution, smart tax prep and close automation as separately priced add-ons, which makes its final cost harder to predict and its capability broader if you need those modules.
Do I need practice management software and accounting software?
Yes, they are different products. The accounting software is the client’s ledger, and practice management is your firm’s system for the work, the clients, the documents and the billing. Some products blur the edge, such as Client Hub’s QuickBooks integrations and Double’s two-way ledger integration, but none of them replaces the ledger itself.
What happened to Pixie and Uku?
Both domains served a parked domain-for-sale page rather than a product when checked on September 19, 2026. Any current comparison that still lists them as options has not been re-checked, and their prices should not be relied on.
Is Keeper the same as Double?
The web address keeper.app now returns a permanent redirect to doublehq.com, and keeper.app/pricing redirects to the Double pricing page, checked September 19, 2026. Double’s own site does not describe the relationship, so the redirect is the fact and anything beyond it is speculation.
