Shireen Botha runs the practice on her own and runs it remotely: no face-to-face meetings, everything over Zoom, and the books kept from wherever she happens to be traveling. Service-based business owners are the clients she works with, and the work is bookkeeping proper — recording invoices and bills from a phone or online apps, keeping straight who owes the business and who it owes, and producing a balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement and general ledger. She holds QuickBooks Advisor and Xero Advisor certifications. Payroll is handled alongside a payroll team rather than in-house; she liaises with them and passes the completed documents over. She is explicit that she is not a financial advisor — the monthly meeting exists to explain what the statements actually say. Books that have fallen behind can be cleaned up.
