Founded in 1975, HNK CPAs has grown into a five-partner practice working from El Cajon and Imperial Beach, with combined partner experience it puts at roughly 150 years across San Diego County. Assurance is a substantial part of the work — audits, reviews and compilations, employee benefit plan audits, and agreed-upon procedures — prepared for lenders, boards, bonding companies and donors.

The client accounting and advisory side is scaled to the organization: after-the-fact bookkeeping and monthly reporting at one end, controller-level guidance and outsourced CFO advisory at the other, aimed at companies that need clearer financial visibility before building a full internal finance department. Labor unions, construction contractors, nonprofits and real estate organizations all figure among the clients. Tax work is framed as year-round planning rather than filing season alone, and the firm runs paperless workflows and secure document management so engagements are not tied to an office visit.
