Carlos C. Lopez began the practice as a sole proprietorship with four full-time employees, going door to door; it is now incorporated, and the Marina office is one of four storefronts in the Salinas area served by a corporate office and training center. Returns can be dropped off — processed the same day when an appointment is booked — handled in person, or filed virtually through a client portal, with a webcam chat or phone call to verify identity before submission. ITIN work is handled by Certifying Acceptance Agents, and client material is published in Spanish as well as English. Alongside individual and business returns the firm keeps books, runs payroll for corporations, partnerships, S-corps and sole proprietors, notarizes documents, and represents clients before federal and state tax agencies. Since 1999 it has also been a California registered tax education vendor, teaching the 60-hour qualifying course and 20-hour continuing education for people entering tax preparation, along with notary ethics courses.
