Supporting Strategies | Reno Tahoe

Jen Ellermeyer founded the Reno–Tahoe office of Supporting Strategies in 2016, after two decades as a business and accounting executive and earlier work as an independent bookkeeping consultant building business systems across a range of industries. She serves as managing director, holds a Bachelor of Arts from California State University, Chico, and is a QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor. The work is bookkeeping and controller support rather than tax filing: accounts payable and receivable, payroll administration, bank reconciliations, month-end close, financial statements, 1099 preparation, and coordination with the client's own CPA at tax time. Nonprofits, professional services firms and construction companies across Northern Nevada and Truckee North Tahoe make up much of the client base.

Each client is assigned a team rather than a single bookkeeper, a structure meant to allow cross-training, cover and segregation of duties. Staff are US-based, typically with an accounting degree and in some cases a CPA designation. One client used the office as an outsourced accounts payable department, handing over vendor bill pay entirely.
