Ballinger Jean CPA

Jean Ballinger practices alone, under the name The Iowa Tax Lady. Peachtree is what she has built the business accounting side around, and has been since 1997: choosing the software, setting up the general ledger and payroll, and teaching a client's own bookkeeping staff to run it properly. Where that staff is not ready for it, she keeps the books herself. Estate and trust returns are the other long-running line, alongside IRS collection cases — non-filed returns, liens and levies, offers in compromise, innocent spouse relief.

A first consultation of fifteen minutes costs nothing, and paperwork moves through a client portal and an online tax organizer. She works from her own home now, across from Burlington High School; the City of Burlington bought the building she had been practicing in and turned it into a police station.
