Uplinq Review: AI Bookkeeping With a Human Team Behind It

Uplinq is a bookkeeping and tax service that pairs AI automation with US-based accountants. Plans from $300 a month, what's included, and who it suits.

Uplinq is different from the other AI-native accounting products we cover. It is not software you run yourself: it is a done-for-you bookkeeping and tax service. AI handles categorization, reconciliation and anomaly detection, and a team of US-based bookkeepers, tax professionals and CPAs reviews the results, closes the month and answers for the numbers.

That makes the real comparison not Digits or QuickBooks, but an outsourced bookkeeper or a bookkeeping service such as Pilot. Uplinq was founded in 2020, is based in Scottsdale, Arizona, says more than 1,000 businesses use it, and has raised $15.6 million, most recently a $10 million Series A led by Next Coast Ventures in May 2025.

The short version: Uplinq suits a small business owner who wants the books handled, including tax filing if needed, and is willing to pay service prices for it. Someone who wants to do their own bookkeeping with better software should look at Digits, Puzzle or Kick instead.

What Uplinq Does

AI plus a named team

Uplinq describes eight AI agents (categorization, reconciliation, close, document extraction, anomaly detection, cash flow, tax estimates and reporting) working under human specialists who handle onboarding, catch-up work, bookkeeping, tax and support. The AI does the volume; the team reviews exceptions and closes each month.

Works with or without QuickBooks

Uplinq keeps books on its own system, but it also supports QuickBooks Online, so a business can keep QuickBooks as its ledger and have Uplinq do the work in it. That is useful if an outside CPA or lender expects QuickBooks.

Catch-up bookkeeping

Businesses that are months or years behind can have their books reconstructed before ongoing service starts, a common problem for owners who come to a service only when a tax deadline or loan application forces the issue.

Tax filing and planning

Business and personal tax returns can be added to any bookkeeping plan, as can quarterly estimated tax calculations with safe harbor targets. Uplinq also offers a tax strategy service for planning ahead, but publishes no price for it.

Uplinq Pricing

As of September 2026, Uplinq publishes these monthly figures as starting prices, not flat rates. Its own FAQ says the subscription is set by transaction volume and complexity, so treat each one as the floor for that tier and get a quote:

Bookkeeping:

PlanStarting priceAdds
StarterFrom $300/monthMonthly bookkeeping by a dedicated team, reconciliation, cash-basis P&L and balance sheet, year-end tax package
GrowthFrom $500/monthCash or accrual books, full QuickBooks Online support, adjusting entries, AR/AP reconciliation, quarterly review
ScaleFrom $750/monthMonthly close, AP/AR management, job, class and property costing, payroll accounting, inventory accounting support
Multi-entityCustomFor 15+ accounts or 10+ entities, jobs or properties: intercompany tracking and reconciliation, consolidated reporting

Tax filing add-ons: from $33 a month ($400 a year) for a personal return, $83 a month ($1,000 a year) for a sole proprietorship or single-member LLC, $208 a month ($2,500 a year) for partnerships and S corporations, and $217 a month ($2,600 a year) for C corporations. Each business filing covers federal plus one state return and includes up to four K-1s, two rental properties, ten fixed assets and five 1099s, with further 1099s at $25 each. A business past any of those caps should expect to pay more than the headline figure.

Quarterly estimates: from an extra $100 a month for quarterly estimated tax calculations, safe harbor targets and payment reminders.

Catch-up work is scoped and quoted separately, once, before the flat monthly plan starts. Standard onboarding is included. Plans are month-to-month with no long lock-in, and Uplinq says you can export your full financials, journals and source data at any time, which limits the cost of changing your mind.

Who Uplinq Is For

  • Owners who want bookkeeping and tax handled by one provider.
  • Businesses that are behind on their books and need catch-up work first.
  • Companies with payroll, jobs or inventory that need more than a categorization tool (Scale plan).
  • Businesses that want to stay on QuickBooks Online but outsource the work.

Limitations

Service pricing, and it starts at $300. Uplinq costs several times more than AI-native software such as Kick or Digits, and the published figures are floors rather than rates: the price you are quoted depends on your transaction volume and complexity. The difference is labor: you are paying people to do and review the work.

Accrual and QuickBooks both cost an upgrade. Starter keeps cash-basis books on Uplinq’s own system. Accrual accounting and working inside QuickBooks Online both start at Growth, from $500 a month, which is the real entry price for a business that needs either.

Less control. With any outsourced bookkeeper, the owner sees the books after the team has worked on them. Owners who like to categorize and review in real time may prefer software. Month-to-month terms and full data export make leaving easier than the usual outsourcing arrangement.

Compare against a local firm. At these prices, a local bookkeeper or CPA firm is a realistic alternative, and may offer advisory work and a relationship a remote service does not. Our CPA directory lists verified firms by state and city.

How Uplinq Compares

  • Digits, Puzzle and Kick: software you run yourself, at a fraction of the price; Puzzle also sells optional bookkeeping services.
  • QuickBooks Online: Uplinq can work inside it, so this is less an alternative than a question of who does the bookkeeping.
  • A local CPA or bookkeeper: similar price range, with in-person advice and deeper tax work.
